Information We Collect and How We Use It
Personally identifiable information may be provided to HPDC and its subsidiaries and affiliates, voluntarily and directly by you (via electronic or paper submission to HPDC and/or its authorized consultants), and/or indirectly through federal, state or city agency websites including, without limitation, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”) -Approved Client Management Systems (CMS) mPact Pro, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s (“HPD”) website, https://housingconnect.nyc.gov/PublicWeb/, and NYC Capital Grants website, https://www1.nyc.gov/site/capitalgrants/index.page, in connection with your submission of your application(s) to housing lotteries, housing counseling programs, homeownership programs, loan applications and ongoing compliance certifications related thereto (collectively, “HPDC Programs”). Personally identifiable information includes information that is particular to you such as name, age, street address, e-mail address, social security number and income, in accordance with the New York Privacy Act.
Employees, vendors, contractors or partners of HPDC who have access to your personally identifiable information in connection with providing services for HPDC’s website or programs are required to keep the information confidential and are not permitted to use this information for any other purpose than to carry out the services they are performing for HPDC. Emails that you send to HPDC may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmitting the information. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as social security or account numbers to us through an unsecured email.
We may also aggregate non-personal information about how HPDC’s and/or HPD’s websites are used to analyze trends, administer our website, track volume of usage, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use; this information helps us measure the number of visitors to various sections of our website and to help make the website more useful. Any aggregate data shared to third parties will be anonymized.
HPDC does not sell names or other personal information about our users and subscribers to mass marketers or any other entity, nor do we engage in exchanges of such information. Privacy of Minors
Except in the context of determining household size and eligibility for housing lotters, we do not request personally identifiable information about children. If a child has provided us with personally identifiable information, a parent or guardian of that child may contact us if they want the information deleted from our records. We will take reasonable steps to confirm the identity of the parent and to locate and delete information about the child.
Anti-Spam Policy and Your Opt-Out Rights
We are committed to permission-based communication and preventing the spread of spam or other forms of unsolicited emails.
Commitment to Data Security
We protect our database by means of various technical and procedural measures, including measures to help restrict web access to or inappropriate use of sensitive data by unauthorized persons. Furthermore, we require our third party service providers to comply with confidentiality requirements.
