Innovative Collaboration Brings Affordable Housing to the Bronx

The Housing Partnership participated in a public-private partnership with Sandra Erickson Real Estate, JCAL Development Group and OCV Architects in creating the Morris Heights Project. This ambitious affordable multifamily development creates an energy-efficient, sustainable community that meets the needs of the Bronx communities.

“By blending thoughtful design, green construction methods and a strong community focus we seek to create a more livable, sustainable and dynamic neighborhood that brings affordable housing to residents and supports local businesses,” said Jamie A. Smarr, President and CEO of the Housing Partnership.

Morris Heights offers a total of 41 affordable units on several properties, including 1647 Popham Avenue, 30 West 180th Street, 844 Faile Street and 2275 Loring Place North.

“Cumulatively, these properties revitalize Morris Heights, a neighborhood that is an ideal setting for our vision of sustainable urban transformation,” said Mr. Smarr.

Morris Heights Project provides affordable housing for homeless veterans and people earning 30% to 70% of Area Median Income.

The Morris Heights project was developed under NYC HPD’s Neighborhood Construction Program, and an additional parcel, acquired by the City, has been incorporated into the project and is in the final stages of development.

Sandra Erickson Real Estate, Inc. is a leading Women Business Enterprise.

“The Morris Heights Project brings lasting social and economic benefits for residents, creating a more sustainable and inclusive Bronx,” said Mr. Smarr.
